Six of us were able to attend meetings over the two days, including Kerry Williams, Lisa Slade, Belinda Hatcher, Mija Reynolds, Lynly Kerin and Katrina Morris.
Mija and I have just returned from the 47th annual Federal Conference held in Canberra last week, on the 1st and 2nd August. It was a fantastic conference hosted by Lone Members NSW & Victoria on behalf of NSW State Council. South Australia was well represented with 10 delegates, 1 observer and 2 husbands!
We have recently received assurance from RICE President Gillian Fennell, that all services at RICE will continue as they are for the time being. RICE was successful in obtaining funding from the Community Child Care Fund grant opportunities, which will make financial support available to child care services from July 2018.

ICPA Australia has welcomed news released in the 2018 Federal Budget that acknowledges a national focus for regional, rural and remote education. The direction which rural education must take is obvious if children living in rural and remote locations are to overcome the current educational inequities they experience. State Education Allowance (SEA) will be extended to families receiving Assistance for Isolated Children (AIC) Second Home Allowance who have children accessing secondary schooling from a second home.
At the end of September, a delegation of four State Councillors headed to Adelaide to present our motion requests to various politicians, government departments and our distance education school.
